Digitata was formed in early 2004 in Minneapolis, merging electronic and live instruments by combining a sampler and sequencer with drums and Wurlitzer. With Maggie Morrison on Wurlitzer and vocals, Ryan Olson on sequencer, and Drew Christopherson on drums, Digitata solidified their sound and gained notable attention around the Minneapolis music scene.
Many took note, including local hip-hoppers Atmosphere, who invited Digitata on the Pacific Northwest leg of their spring tour, in April of 2005. After returning home, they released their debut album, Sexually Transmitted Emotions on Totally Gross National Product (Minneapolis). The album was well received, resulting in CMJs ..10 most added to playlists for the week of June 14th, 2005
Since then, Digitata has released two more albums and played countless more shows around the midwest, as well as east coast and west coast tours. Since releasing their latest album Art Work Pays, the members of Digitata have focused on other projects. You can currenty find Maggie fronting the elctro-duo Lookbook, Drew is throwing it down in Blunts and Batmen, and Ryan is busy as ever with his bands Gayngs, Marijuana Deathsquads, Building Better Bombs, Blunts, and more.
